The New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal played a significant role in bringing McGraw House to reality, and they continue to play an important role in supervising policies and procedures.
Applicants must be at least 62 years of age and income eligible. Minimal monthly rents are required, which may increase according to a person’s financial resources. There is a range of rents to meet different income levels and current rent figures are listed below. Utilities are included in the rent. Monthly rents are subject to periodic increases. Although you can request either size apartment, typically studios are rented to single people while couples have priority for our one bedroom apartments. Renting a studio apartment first is the fastest way for single people to move into the building. However, after moving in, any resident can transfer (for a fee) from a studio to a one bedroom apartment, or to another apartment more to their liking.
We currently have a waiting list for apartments. The length of wait varies greatly and is dependent on many factors. We would be happy to schedule an interview and give you a tour of our facilities. To place your name on the waiting list, please contact us for an application packet which may be obtained at the office or requested through the mail by calling 607-272-7054. Information for McGraw House Applicants
McGraw House is a non-denominational facility.
Gross income limits are subject to change; current limits:
Studio (450 sq. ft.) $43,596; 6/1/09 = $45,360
One bedroom (585 sq. ft.) $54,516; 6/1/09 = $56,448
Monthly rent limits (utilities included) subject to change.
Studio rent range: $443 to $519; 6/1/09 = $464 to $540
One bedroom rent range: $552 to $649; 6/1/09 = $576 to $672
Parking fees = $10.50 per month
Residents can supply their own carpeting.
If residents would like an air-conditioner, they must purchase one from McGraw House and we charge a monthly utility fee of $12.00 in addition to rent.
Window measurements: 58″ wide, 63″ long
Apartment stoves are electric; heat is radiated hot water.
Residents who do not have room in their apartments for overnight guests can rent our Guest Apartment for $65.00 per night, linens included.
