FAQ

Is McGraw House located on a bus route?
The county’s public bus service stops out front of our building. Another connection is only two blocks away. A bus to local shopping centers, including supermarkets, pharmacies and department stores, is available every half hour. In addition, an organization called Gadabout provides personalized door-to-door bus service to doctor or dental appointments, the hairdresser, and other locations of interest to Seniors.

Do you require a Security Deposit?
A Security Deposit of one month’s rent is required.

Do you allow pets at McGraw House?
Pets are welcome at McGraw House. Owners sign a pet agreement describing common sense care of their pet and pay an additional $100 pet deposit.

Is McGraw House wired for internet use?
Residents can obtain high-speed internet service in their apartments through our cable TV company.  We also have WiFi service available in some common areas and in our Guest Apartment.

What outside recreation facilities are available?
Three blocks away, there is a private gym with exercise equipment, treadmills, bicycles, etc. The Senior Citizens Center and a program called GIAC, both located downtown, also provide a variety of recreational services and trips of interest to Seniors.

What is the McGraw House policy on smoking?
McGraw House is a tobacco and smoke free facility. Smoking of any kind is strictly prohibited in any area inside the building, both public and private, including resident apartments. (The only exception is that smoking may be allowed in the apartment of residents who have leases effective on 10/31/06.) Residents must enforce this policy with all their visitors, guests, housekeepers, home health aides, etc. People who wish to smoke can do so outside the building in our covered smoking area.
